Carb Mythbusters

In recent years, there have been many diets that have hit the market that aim to make you believe that all carbs are bad. But this is not the case, and a no-carb diet is not an effective way to lose the weight you want and keep it off. Carbs are not a food staple you should avoid, and they are actually an important building block of the body.

Many people have come to believe that carbs are the reason that they gain weight. Maybe you love bread, or pasta is your weak spot. But chances are, these are not the reasons that you have the weight on that you do. Studies in recent years have shown that thin and healthy people actually consume more carbs than those who are overweight and out of shape.

To top it off, most people do not even take in the right amount of carbs each day, which can cause your body to function at a lower than optimal level. If you are not getting enough carbs each day, there are healthy food choices to help you getting your body back on track.

Fruit is one of the easiest ways to add carbs into your daily routine and diet, especially if you are a snacker. If you have a sweet tooth or are prone to snacking, items like trail mix with dried fruit or even just fresh fruit from the market can help you to get the healthy carbs that you need each day.

Vegetables are the other simple way to get carbs into your diet each day. If you are someone who feels that your veggies always have to have a sauce, an easy way to satisfy your taste buds without wrecking your diet is to switch to an oil based flavoring. Instead of ranch dressing, use a balsamic vinaigrette.

No matter how you choose to implement the carbs in your diet, it is important to make sure you are taking in enough to keep your body healthy. Just remember to choose your carb choices wisely, as they are all not created equal.
